Does anyone know what the standard interest rate is on a payday loan? When I talk about a standard interest rate I mean the industry standard. Do small lenders charge the same interest or fee as large lenders like quickquid or wonga? Thanks Dave

Payday loans are getting a hell of a lot of negative publicity at the moment. It is all over the press. To be honest, I do think payday lenders do sometimes get a bit too much grief. They are offering a service and as long as you pay back your payday loan on time there really are not too many problems.

A payday loan helped me out in my time of need. They have a bat rep but provided they are paid back on time they are no more expensive than having an unauthorized overdraft with one of the big lenders

I’m undecided whether payday loans are a good thing or a bad thing. On the one foot they offer a service to those that have no where else to turn for emergency money. On the other side they cherge substantial fees for the priviege of borrowing that money. The industry standard is about £30 per £100 borrowed. Now make your own mind up whether payday loans are agood thing or a bad thing!

Payday loans take a lot of different shapes and forms but as a general rule of thumb we can concur the folllowing:

Loans that are short term in nature of 1 month and below
Loans that have a fixed fee as a percentage of the amount borrowed
Loans that do not carry out a credit check

Jake, try Quickquid or Wonga.com. These are two of the best payday lenders. They are spending alot on advertising at them moment. You see them on the tv all the time. Wonger also sponsor Blackpool which was in the EPL football last year.

You can see in their adverts and theirt use of young middle classs people that they are trying to remove the stigma associated with payday lenders.

As a result they can ill afford at the moment to have any scandals and are trying to operate in a professional and reputable manner at all times. This is good for you the customer – They may not be any cheaper than any of the other lesser known, smaller lenders but at least you don’t run the risk of being conned into somnething that you were not expecting.

Could anyone recommend the payda lender to approach for payday loans under £1000 with no credit check?
I hear that these providers more or less charge the same fee of about £30 per £100 borrowed. I am more interested in knowing about the customer service for customers.
